MAY NEWS FROM VANTAGE POINTE

The May meeting of VPHA brought us to the summer recess. Meetings will resume in October. During the summer the board intends to clean up some of the unfinished projects.

We hope that when the northerners return they will enjoy the fruits of our labor. Until then, have a great summer.

WE HAVE RECEIVED THE VERY SAD NEWS THAT HARRY & SHIRLEY PODIVA'S DAUGHTER HAS PASSED AWAY. NO OTHER DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE. PLEASE KEEP THEM IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. THEIR NORTHERN ADDRESS IS 328 CONCORD LANE, BELLE VERNON, PA 15012

ON MAY 8TH A COMMITTEE OF TEN GUYS PREPARED AND SERVED A MOTHERS DAY BRUNCH TO ABOUT 35 WOMEN AND ABOUT 25 GUYS AT THE CLUBHOUSE. WOMEN WERE ADMITTED FREE OF CHARGE AND MEN PAID $5.00 EACH. BRUNCH CONSISTED OF FRENCH TOAST STICKS, PORK SAUSAGE, BACON, SCRAMBLED EGGS, JUICE AND COFFEE

A MEMORIAL DAY PICNIC LUNCHEON IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 31ST. COCKTAILS AND APPETIZERS AT 12:00 NOON, FLAG CEREMONY AND DEDICATIONS AT 12:30 AND LUNCH SERVED AT 1:00 PM. THE COST IS FREE BUT YOU MUST STILL GET A TICKET FROM SUE HERRIMAN (402-9157) THE SIGN-UP SHEET FOR BRINGING A DISH TO PASS IS IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

A FATHERS DAY BRUNCH IS BEING PLANNED FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 19TH. WATCH THE BULLETIN BOARDS FOR MORE INFORMATION.

A work party was held to apply fertilizer to the palm trees on Vantage Trace and around the Clubhouse. Many thanks to the work crew of Bruce, Dave, Gary, Tom, Don, Art, Glenn, David, Earl, Dick & Walt.

Construction has started on the new Aldi's Food Market. Barring weather complications or other unforseen delays, the tentative opening will be in November. For those that don't know, Aldi's will be located on the corner of us 27 and New Life Way.

A new Italian Resturant the- Bella Vista - has opened in the building that was Paul's Harborside on US 27 north. The Bela Vista also has a Lakeside Tiki Bar.

The new Heartlands Workforce building is under construction on the west side of US 27 South before you get to US 98.

Heartland Workforce is currently housed in the old Scotties where the Sams Club is supposed to someday be built.

Our summer weather has arrived a bit early this year with temps most days in the 90's but with no rain in sight.

The heat has brought with it the May arrival of the dreaded love bugs! I'm sure you northerners really miss them.

Coffee hour is still on Monday mornings from 8:30 until 9:30.

Card Bingo is still being played on the first and third Tuesdays at 7:00 pm.

Pool volleyball is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 till 4:00.
