Obituary for Florence Goode

Florence K. Goode, 75, of Sebring, Florida, passed away on July 12, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
She was born September 19, 1934 in Frederick County, VA; the daughter of Admiral Dewey and Margaret Irene LeHew Kenney. She graduated from James Wood High School in 1953. While still in high school, she began her career with Shenandoah Valley National Bank. Her friendships made there have lasted through the years.
She married Clatus W. Goode in 1965. He was the love of her life. Clatus preceded her in death in 1999. She loved camping and traveling. In the mid 1980s, she and Clatus began to visit Florida during the winter. Later, they decided to relocate to Sebring. The friends they made in Sebring became her second family. The love and support they have given her has been immeasurable.
She is survived by a little brother Joseph L. Kenney and wife, Alice, a sister-in-law, Isabelle Kenney of Winchester, a niece, Heather Moore of Salisbury, MD and four nephews, Lewis Kenney, Scott Kenney, Jeffrey Kenney and Patrick Kenney all of Winchester. She also had several great nieces and great nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601 or to a charity of your choice.

A Scientific Survey was made this morning (7/9) to estimate how many VP residents are still here and not up North or on vacation....

This highly Scientific Survey was accomplished by counting the number of houses with their trash bags out, adding the houses with newspapers but no trash and the houses that had neither but had a car in their driveway.... The count came out to 70 homes still here....This means that 64.4% of you are gone.....Enjoy yourselves and we will see you when you return..... (Don't you just love science???)

Shirley & Bud Lemke are in San Diego visiting their daughter & family.

This is a pic of my Grand daughter when she won the championship in the singles event after six days of competition. She also won the doubles event with her partner.

Her name is KYLIE HAVILAND, she just turned 15 yrs old in April and she is playing in the 16 to 18 year old group of tennis players. This was the group that she won the championship event that was a 6 day event. Her partner in the doubles event was a 16 year old girl.

This is a Display Cabinet or Bookcase being built by our resident Master Woodworker, Joe Lucia....

The cabinet is made of Ash lumber and is 39"h x 45"w x 10" deep, will have glass doors when completed.... Great job Joe.....

This isn't just another fable that 90% of the e-mail warnings we all receive are.....This is a true story....

One of my grandsons was recently notified by his bank that someone overseas had withdrawn $1,600 from his checking account..... He frequents Starbucks and uses their wireless internet connection while there..... He banks at a small, local, hometown bank and he was fortunate enough that they gave him his money back after about five weeks.....

My son (his father) is in charge of a support desk at a very large gov't office with about 2,000 laptops and knows what he is talking about....He says that it is very easy for someone to monitor your computer if you are not password protected and you would not even know they are there....He said they do it all the time and it is called "remote support"....If it is not authorized, it's called "hacking".... They can easily steal your credit card info, your bank account #s, passwords, etc....

I guess the bottom line is, don't do financial transactions on a wireless connection that isn't secure....I have friends that do not password protect their wireless because they are good hearted and let their neighbors use it..... I do not think anyone in our community is capable of hacking but my son says it is very simple and who is to say a stranger couldn't drive thru the neighborhood and monitor what you are doing.....If your wireless is not secure, I suggest you make it secure..... If you have neighbors that are using it, give the password to them if you want to allow them to use it...
